Es war die erste "Post-Cheb-Khaled"-Aufnahme, bei der das Image von Cheb Khaled gestutzt und zugleich aufgemotzt wurde, vor allem für den Zugriff auf den französischen und bald auch amerikanischen Popmusik-Markt. Unter den Fittichen des Produzenten und Funk-Meisters Don Was und dem Stimmungsmacher Michael Brook emanzipierte sich Khaled vom billigen Synthesizer- und Drumcomputer-Sound des Straßen-Rai und machte dem internationalen Starbusiness die erste Offerte. Die … mehrstilistische Vielfalt auf der CD ist bemerkenswert: da sind einige Songs, die dem verstaubten Rai-Sound neue Ansätze bieten und zusätzlich mit bodenständigem amerikanischem R&B vermischt werden. Hier und da bringt Khaled auch reizvolle Andeutungen von Flamenco und marokkanischen Elementen ins Spiel.
